Jane Harper: www.janeharper.vc.net.nz Painting by Jane Harper

Spending a lot of time in the outdoors, running along walking trails in the summer or traversing mountain tops on skis in the winter, Jane is inspired by the landscapes around her which she reproduces in her paintings. Her attention is often captured by the interaction of light and shadow, especially in the early morning or late afternoon, the times which shes consider the most enjoyable to be outdoors, in particular, pre-dawn trips.

Richard Young: www.richardyoung.net

Over the last 2 years Wellington based photographer Richard Young has taken many trips into the New Zealand mountains. Trying to capture the light in the mountains, and the effect and mood it creates as the light is reflected of the snow on to the surrounding landscapes. The result is his exhibition alpine light, which he will be showing at the festival.

Henriette Beikirch

Born in Germany, Henriette has been living in New Zealand for 15 years. She loves spending time outdoors, tramping and climbing mostly in the Southern Alps. The camera is her constant companion and enables her to share quiet moments and the pristine beauty of mountains under ever changing light. Her current selection of photographs includes Aspiring National Park, as well as Nelson Lakes where she spent most of last summer.
